Addicted to high energy guitars and cyber-punk synths, Gavin Michaels has spent the last three years on the west coast and midwest honing his signature flavor of pop-punk and emo.

With themes of unruly love, volatile mental health, and the constant search for identity — along with highly interactive live performances — he’s always pursuing a greater connection with his audience. Whether you’re at his show on the West Coast, Midwest or in New York City, you can always count on feeling welcomed into the community.

He draws inspiration from bands like Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Panic! at the Disco and The Killers. He’s currently based out of Brooklyn, NY.

His most recent song Plastic Decays was nominated for Song of the Summer by WSRR radio.

“I had my first stage dive when I was 16. I remember the lead singer of the punk band I went to see went ‘For this entire song, at least one person in the audience needs to be crowd surfing.’ So I jumped on stage, and I just kind of froze. The bassist was like ‘Dude, go for it! Go! Go!’ so I backed up to get a running start, then sprinted and leapt into a sea of hands. I can’t even begin to tell you what a sensation that is. One of the most magical moments of my life. So now with all the music I make, or play with my band, I’m always thinking about how I can get the audience interacting or engaged. Whatever that thing is to bring some of that magic to other people.”

-Gavin Michaels

"Plastic Decays is an instant classic. With a sound I can only describe as Pop-Punk Vapourwave (complete with 8-bit video game SFX) Plastic Decays takes a look at the modern alteration culture of trends like Botox, fillers, and body modification that cannot disguise whats actually inside. The song serves as a great reminder for the modern generation that buying looks, ideologies, or trends is not the same as achieving happiness. Describing in an exaggerated example of how far some people will take their ideologies of achieving a “perfect look”, Gavin brilliantly includes the stand-out line of the song: “Rip your heart out your chest because it beat too slow."
